    CallFM Winter Fund Drive

Fund_drive_v6_2It's my favorite time of the year again. No, not Christmas. Not Thanksgiving/Black Friday.

It's time for CallFM's Winter Fund Drive. Which means I'm going back on the air to ask for help. CallFM is a listener-supported radio station, which means that we need the help of our listeners (and nice people like you) to help keep CallFM on the air.

CallFM (91.9fm) is a Christian radio station aimed at reaching the teens and young adults in South Florida. They do a phenominal job of it too. If you've sponsored in the past, do it again. If you've never sponsored, check it out. I'll be on the air M, W, F from 3-6pm. It'll be great!

And I promise you, we won't "pull a SpiritFM on you." Ouch!

Check out the station this week. Help reach some kids with the good news of Jesus Christ! Support UNCONVENTIONAL MINISTRY!

    Thank You, WMCU

This news will hit the Chrisitan Community in Miami Wednesday, but it's public knowledge in the webosphere...

WMCU (aka SpiritFM) has been sold. SpiritFM has served as a Pop/Contemporary music station in the Miami area for longer than I can remember. And now a staple, a voice that aimed to strengthen it's listeners for the Cause of Christ... is being silenced.

According to reports, WMCU was purchased for $20 million... sold to American Public Media Group. Instead of Christian Radio, APMG will be broadcasting classical music.

    Wow. Classical. Really?

As a supporter of WMCU Radio, I will miss the Christian influence that it brought to South Florida. Thank you for investing into the community. Those of you that worked at the station, may God open doors for you and continue to guide your paths.

For more information, check out APMG's Press Release online.

For those of you that were supporters of Christian Radio in Miami, may I recommend 91.9 CallFM? While CallFM may be "slightly more edgy" than WMCU, I think you'll find the staff hugely evangelic, driven to reach the younger generations with the message of Christ! So, while you're going through SpiritFM withdrawls in the coming weeks, turn the dial to 91.9fm and give it a try.

Thank You, WMCU, for your efforts in South Florida. You will be sorely missed.

    Steadfast in Christ,

    Jeff Reed

Jeff = Good Mood? That's unusual...

Top 10 Reasons I'm in a good mood today:

    10. While my parents are out of town, my mom insisted I drive her Cadillac XLR for her (to keep the battery fresh, of course). Tooling around Miami in a Cadillac Roadster? That alone is enough to get in a good mood... but there's more.

    9. CF Homestead Media has worked out several major flaws in our worship center. It took a lot of planning and talking in circles, but the end product improved significantly over the past couple weeks. I was really stressing over it, and I'm glad it's resolved.

    8. Big announcement coming up this Friday @ the CF Ministry Rally... Eric is tipping his hat (if you're curious).

    7. C28 West Palm is catching stride as Back-To-School shopping starts. Aside from the increase in sales, we're getting a lot of exposure to new customers.

    6. Ryan has done a great job inking a deal with Summit Christian School (in West Palm) where every Middle and High School student (350 some I believe) will be getting a NOTW shirt as part of their Spiritual Emphasis Week. The great thing is the school has uniforms every day of the week, EXCEPT for the occasional day (once a month I think) when they will be allowed to wear our NOTW shirt. Talk about branding.

    5. Had coffee yesterday with Rob Robbins, Station Manager @ CallFM. I have a lot of respect for Rob because he took a radio station that "could not survive" and has turned it into a strong, viable product. Rob has great vision, and we will all be seeing some phenominal opportunities for growth coming very soon.

    4. Wikinomics has really been hitting a cord with me. I never really thought I'd be the guy reading business books and getting ideas from it, but the idea of wikichurch has been rattling in my head for months now.... and I love it!

    3. Emily, the Assistant Manager from C28 in West Palm has come down to Miami to fill in as a temporary Manager for The Living Word. We had a quick turnover at the manager position (Rebecca went back to teaching at a local Christian Elementary School) and I needed some help retasking the staff and getting me organized. Emily's retail experience is a HUGE PLUS! Not to mention, she already understands how much of an unorganized freak I am.

    2. Talking: I have had several opportunities in the past 72 hours to talk to people who are in different places. Ministry, business, life... I've realized that by working so hard, so much I've really limited myself to the people I come in contact with, and that I really hate being "the loner."

    1. Amy went back to work today. After 10 months off from teaching, she's gearing up for the school year again. She's going back to Palmetto Sr. High where she's teaching PreCal and Algebra I? She's excited, which means she's happy, which ultimately means I'm happy. Oh, and I'm glad to get another paycheck coming in, too.

    Thanks for helping CallFM!

    Picture_1

I wanted to say thanks to my readers who pledged money during CallFM's Summer Fund Drive. I had several readers call in while I was on the air (gave "Boo-Yeahs" where appropriate). I looked through the pledge logs and saw several others that called when I wasn't around. THANK YOU FOR INVESTING INTO THE VISION OF CALLFM! If you haven't pledged yet, you can do that here, or to get more information on CallFM, check out their website.

We had a strong Fund Drive, raising 67% of our budget. However, we have a long way still to go. Prayerfully consider pledging (either monthly or one time) and help us stay on the air!

    Co-DJing on the Call

Picture_1It's that time of year again. I'm going to be on CallFM this week (Monday- 5/21, Wednesday- 5/23, Friday- 5/25) to help with their Summer Fund Drive. I've shared many, many times about the validity of the Call. I'll be on during the afternoon drive-time shifts (3-6ish pm). If you want to listen, it's 91.9fm in Miami-Dade and Monroe County. Or listen online at CallFM.com.

Want to make my day? Pledge online and help keep the station running. Or if you want to get a Boo-Yeah on air, call the station when I'm on - at 305-662-7736. Tell them Jeff sent you.

    CallFM: 16,000 visitors

The graphic below was taken from 91.9 CallFM's E-mail newsletter. CallFM was recently a Featured Station on Windows Media, and their listenership increased to 16,219 in one day. What's exciting is that history shows that online listeners stay with our station for an average of 45 minutes. Coupled with the fact that CallFM presents the gospel every 30 minutes, over 16,000 people were shown the good news of Christ through the online part of the station.

CallFM is doing a phenominal job of reaching the generation where they are. In a couple weeks, the Call will be doing their fund drive, and I'll be co-djing several of the afternoon shifts to help them get some fundage. Readers, I cannot fully express how valid this ministry is, and how they need financial help to continue on the path God has placed before them.

Please pray about sponsoring the mission of the call. Check out CallFM.com for more information on helping the Call.

    91.9fm The Call

Picture_1CallFM recently moved too! Miami's only Christian ROCK station can be found now at 91.9fm on your radio dial. This is a good thing, as the new frequency potentially offers some major upgrades, including a larger broadcast area.

Pray for General Manager Rob, the Call employees and the board of directors as we try to "turn it up a notch" at the Call. Of course, if you're willing/interested in sponsoring the MISSION of CallFM, check out their website for sponsoring opportunities, or let me know and I'll connect you with the right people.

Listen to the station, tell your friends about the move, and help support The Call!

On a completely side note, Austin Flores (CF's Worship Pastor Sammy Flores' youngest son) is performing at a CallFM sponsored concert this Saturday with headliner "Showbread". Come on out to Life-Pointe church in Homestead this Saturday afternoon (I think Austin's on at 5pm) and give the kid some props.

    A Call to the Board

CallToday I received a huge honor. CallFM (91.7FM, WMKL, http://www.CallFM.com) asked me to be on their "Board of Directors". I have done some work with them in the past with fundraising and DJing, but to be at this level is a privelege that I do not take lightly.

CallFM is a Christian "Modern Rock" radio station in Miami, and does an excellent job of reaching Miami's students and young adults with the good news of Christ. Their signal is broadcasted over 1.5 million people in Miami-Dade county and into Broward.

They are completely non-profit, and if you (or your business) are interested in sponsoring or underwriting the ministry of CallFM, follow this link or let me know. And pray for the board as we deal with some very sensitive decisions and pray for God's guidance to lead us to His Will.
