Another late night. After church today I got hit hard with a fever, chills, etc. Sorry I didn't get to post immediately (thanks to those of you who called/e-mailed asking if my kinks ever got worked out.) Let me update you.
The service went great. Today was comfortable. Everyone knew what they were doing. Set up and tear down was a breeze. I believe we shaved an hour off of setup, and I know we shaved 90 minutes off tear-down. Evidently word got out to Guest Services that we needed help, and help arrived! Thank God for volunteers with a servant heart! The existance of CF Homestead is solely based on those volunteers! One of my sound guys told me today: "I like working in Homestead so much better than Palmetto Bay. At Palmetto Bay it's so organized. You basically just show up and don't do anything until right when the service starts, then you work. It's not like here, where basically you work straight through all day! In Homestead you get to get dirty!" The ironic thing is he was not joking. That's the attitude of these people. I love them for it!
A funny thing happened today. During the 10am service, Pastor Jorge Molina mentioned that he is so excited about the campus, and goes around telling people to come to the Homestead campus. He said, though, that he doesn't tell people in Kendall because it's so far from Homestead. Like a chorus from the crowd, I heard at least four distict voices say, almost in unison, "I live in Kendall." To go through all the work we do, week in and week out, with a commute attached. May God bless you for your service!
My parents came to the service today. Dad was sporting a casual look today (short sleeved shirt, no tie). This is significant because my father has worn a tie to church every Sunday since they invented the knot. Surprisingly, I think they enjoyed the service. I shouldn't say surprisingly. On the modern/traditional spectrum my parents are firmly planted somewhere around "blended" and I know Homestead is a little too close to the edge for them. I know they were shocked at the look of the campus, and the work that goes into setting up the media for the campus. They even helped us tear down, doing whatever was asked of them. God is good. Even though I know it wasn't the service-style they were comfortable with, it was great to see them come out in support of the work we've been doing.
And finally, the kink got a couple layers of duct-tape this week. After all, that's what I'm famous for. I never actually fix anything, I just make sure it'll work from week to week. If anyone knows anything about Composite/Component/DVI switches or matrixes, please e-mail me.
I heard unofficial count that we lost 30 people from opening weekend. That's something like 8%. However, considering the time change (everyone lost an hour of sleep), that is a HUGE victory for us. I honestly can't wait until next week! I think I heard two people got saved today. Praise God!
On a side note, I have a prayer request. One of my cousins I believe accepted Christ today at his church in Georgia. He's had a huge life-change in the past couple years. This is a huge victory for the kingdom! When possible, if you could pray for John, I would really appreciate it.

Wow Jeff. You wore me out just reading your last couple of posts. Hope you're feeling better and we're praying for the Homestead campus and you and Amy.
